ART 1505 Painting I (4)
This course in painting fundamentals stresses the relationship of materials, techniques and ideas to visual expression. Oil and acrylic media will be explored. Class instruction and critiques are included. Satisfies Fine Arts General Education requirement. Offered every semester.

ART 2505 Painting II (Intermediate) (4)
This is a continuation of Painting I with emphasis on integration of basic pictorial concepts, including the figure in total context. Class instruction and critiques are included. Prerequisite: ART 1505 with a grade of C- or better. Satisfies the Fine Arts option for the B.A. degree. Offered every semester.

ART 3505 Painting III (Intermediate) (2)
This intermediate course explores any painting media of the student’s choice in relationship to form and personal expression. Individual and group critiques are included. Prerequisite: ART 2505 C- or better. Satisfies the Fine Arts option for the B.A. degree. Offered every semester.

ART 4505 Painting IV (Advanced) (2)
This is an advanced course, emphasizing the development of individual directions with particular attention to the creative processes and to the formal and philosophical problems of painting. Individual and group critiques are included. Prerequisite: ART 3505 with a grade of C- or better. Satisfies the Fine Arts option for the B.A. degree. Offered every semester.
