A. TEACHER RECOMMENDATION – from teacher or mentor in art. If there
is no art teacher, a recommendation from the general school teacher,
counselor or principal is necessary – to determine skill level, intent, career
goals, work ethic and discipline.

B. PREPARATION FOR THE DISCIPLINE – courses, lessons, experience –
through a preview of materials submitted by each candidate.

C. PORTFOLIO REVIEW – examples of drawing, painting, printmaking,
design, photography, computer graphics, ceramics and craft. Photographs or slides or electronic presentation of art work is acceptable. In the absence of a portfolio, admittance into the program would be based on the interview, transcript, and teacher recommendation. Art scholarships will only be considered based on portfolio review.

D. INTERVIEW – Conversation with members of the Art department to
determine the candidate’s interests, intent, career goals, understanding of the major and its requirements.
